The campus of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, NY, and Schermerhorn Hall on Columbia University’s Morningside campus, serve as the centers of student life in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
The Lamont campus houses the department’s main administrative office and research facilities of most department faculty and graduate students. The department office at Lamont handles all issues related to graduate student life including, housing, stipends, and registration.
The office in Schermerhorn Hall primarily serves the needs of the department’s undergraduate majors and concentrators. Classrooms and lab facilities, the office of the Undergraduate Program Manager, and a department student lounge are all located on the 5th floor of the Schermerhorn Hall extension, the nexus of undergraduate student life in the department. Library services supporting students, faculty, and researchers are located in the Science & Engineering Library Northwest Corner Building.
