Internships & Research Opportunities

Students may wish to apply for internships as early as their sophomore year to gain experience in the field. However, most students begin applying their junior year, and these internships typically provide students with the starting point, or in some cases the data, for their senior thesis project.

Research and lab opportunities outside of summer internships are available as well, but less common. Students seeking these experiences can start their search through our affiliates at Lamont or the Earth Institute which often post openings for undergraduates. However, there are many other organizations, institutes, and agencies that offer valuable opportunities in the earth and environmental science fields.
