Climate System Science Minor
The Climate System Science Minor is designed to provide students an orientation to the rapidly developing field of climate science. With a mix of science and social science electives, the coursework for the CSS Minor should be accessible to a wide range of undergraduates, including those who are interested in the basic scientific under-pinning of the climate crises as well as those who are seeking a deeper understanding of climate science.
Two courses from the following list or the Climate System Core list (see list below):
Environmental Risks and Disasters (EESC UN1201)
Earth Resources & Sustainable Development (EESC UN1600)
Earth's Environmental Systems: Solid Earth System (EESC UN2200)
Earth's Environmental Systems: Life System (EESC UN2300)
Science for Sustainable Development (EESC UN2330)
Any one course from the list below:
Listed below are acceptable courses for the CSS 'Solutions, Justice, Policy and Communication' module. This list may evolve over time as new climate courses are developed across CU. Additional courses may qualify if they show a clear link or complementary perspective to the climate and environmental problem. A qualifying course should mention climate in the title and/or objectives, and include climate content in several lectures and/or primary texts. The DUS team will review the suitability of additional courses suggested by CSS majors on a case-by case basis.
*Please note that DEES majors may not declare this minor. Additionally, courses cannot double count between programs.
*Transfer and study abroad credit may be accepted for up to one course out of the five.
