Bio
Trinish Chatterjee is a PhD Candidate in Earth and Environmental Sciences, advised by Radley Horton. He applies statistical and geospatial methods to understand how extreme weather events are changing under a warming climate. Before pursuing his doctorate, he completed a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park and worked in industry as a telecommunications engineer. His current research examines topics such as the spatial extent of global extreme precipitation events and how data scarcity in underrepresented regions of the world compounds uncertainty in rare-event risk estimation. Across his career, Trinish has also participated in numerous equity-focused community engagement efforts, including through hackathon organizing, building platforms for second-generation diaspora youth to discuss taboo topics such as mental health, as well as climate activism.
