Caroline Leland is a Frontiers of Science postdoctoral fellow and lecturer at Columbia University. She is also a member of the Tree-ring Laboratory at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. Her research focuses on the morphology, radial growth, and physiology of ancient conifers and their response to environmental changes. She has also researched climatic variability in central Asia over the last several centuries using networks of tree-ring data.
