Bio

Aviva Intveld is a PhD student in the Geochemistry division at Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University. She is working with Professor Gisela Winckler on reconstructing records of dust fluxes during the last interglacial to investigate atmospheric circulation during warmer-than-present periods of the earth’s past. Previously, she received her Bachelor of Science in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at MIT in 2023 and her MPhil in Earth Sciences as a Gates-Cambridge Scholar at the University of Cambridge in 2024. Her master's thesis paired paleoclimate, geochemistry, and archaeology to reconstruct a high-resolution terrestrial paleoclimate record of the Common Era. Aviva is passionate about policy-actionable science and museum-based learning.
