The Earth Science Colloquium Series is sponsored by the Department and Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. This series provides a lively forum for discussing a wide variety of topics within the earth sciences and related fields. Colloquium speakers are asked to prepare a 40-45 minute presentation, to be followed by a 15-minute question and discussion period. All pre-orals graduate students in the Deparment of Earth and Environmental Sciences are required to attend colloquium, but the Observatory's scientific and technical staff also frequently attend.
Time and Place:
Colloquia begin at 3:30 pm Friday afternoons throughout the academic year. Talks are held in the auditorium of the Monell Building, which seats an audience of 180. Stick around afterwards for TG (beer, snacks, and conversation).
More details and a complete schedule may be found on the Lamont website.
