Bio
Sydney Maguire is a PhD student within the Crustal Deformation lab at Columbia and works primarily with Dr. Folarin Kolawole and Dr. Sidney Hemming. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2023 and her Bachelor of Science from UC Santa Barbara in 2019. Sydney is most fascinated by geologic problems related to active deformation, tectonic geomorphology, and earthquake hazard. She is passionate about working with undergraduate students and geoscience outreach. In her spare time, Sydney enjoys cooking and trying new restaurants.
