Research Interest

Bio

Julia received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. She worked as an engineering consultant for two years before joining the McKinley Ocean Carbon Group at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in 2022. Her research is conducted through the NSF-funded Science and Technology Center, Learning the Earth with Artificial Intelligence and Physics (LEAP). She focuses on the ocean carbon uptake component of climate models; specifically, she studies how machine learning can be utilized to estimate air-sea carbon dioxide fluxes and evaluate uncertainties in the NCAR Community Earth System Model.
