Emily is a third year Ph.D. student in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University. Her research interests include using synchrotron techniques to measure oxidative states of transition metals present in particulate matter air pollution. Emily hails from Seattle, WA and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Physics from Gonzaga University. Emily has a background in light spectroscopy and instrumentation in condensed matter physics labs, and laser spectroscopy measuring surface-atmosphere gas exchange. Emily enjoys yoga, hiking, camping, climbing, and hanging out with her cat.
