Biography

Celeste is a paleoceanographer and geochemist with an interest in tropical ocean dynamics during the last few glacial and interglacial periods. She uses proxies for past climate and ocean conditions from marine sediment cores, such as foraminifera, in her research. Her current work focuses on the eastern equatorial Pacific thermocline and the El Niño-Southern Oscillation during the last interglacial period before the present.

She also enjoys teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, including at Columbia and Barnard. Any aspiring paleoceanographers are welcome to contact Celeste.
