The campus of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, NY, and Schermerhorn Hall on Columbia University’s Morningside campus, serve as the centers of student life in the department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
The Lamont campus houses the department’s main administrative office, as well as the Geoscience Library and the offices and research facilities of most department faculty and graduate students. The department office at Lamont handles all issues related to graduate student life including, housing, stipends, and registration.
The office in Schermerhorn Hall primarily serves the needs of the department’s undergraduate majors and concentrators. Classrooms and lab facilities, the office of the undergraduate program coordinator and a department student lounge are all located on the 5th floor of the Schermerhorn Hall extention, the nexus of undergraduate student life in the department. The newly renovated Geology Library is located on the 6th floor of Schermerhorn Hall.
