Research in Paleontology
The Paleontology group is concerned broadly with the evolution of life and life's interactions within the Earth system. This includes using the fossils and living taxa to understand the evolutionary relationships between organisms as well as using the fossil record to understand the origin and consequences of changing patterns of diversity, physiology, and modes of life through geological time. The Paleontology group has two main centers of operation within DEES: one at Lamont, largely focused on paleoecology, in the broadest sense; and the other the American Museum of Natural History, focused mostly on the evolutionary relationships of organisms.
