Planet Earth

Earth & Environmental Science V1053y

Spring 2007

An accelerated look at how the earth works. The unifying concept of plate tectonics is used to examine surface and internal processes in the earth. Beginning with the formation of the earth, we examine the forces affecting the surface and the body of the earth with its heat engine, volcanism, seismology, magnetism, and gravity. Earthquake prediction, global climate, ridge-axis hot springs, volcanicity, and deep-sea drilling are used to present basic concepts of earth science.
